I have a particularly vivid memory of my Father taking some, or all of the school, to the top of school road to observe the D-Day build up of military hardware passing on the road through Camelsdale as it made it''s way to one of the ports on the south coast in preparation for the invasion of mainland Europe.
I remember too the wonderful Christmas parties held in the schoolhall,the room being beautifully decorated with a roaring fire in one corner of it, and Miss Lewis never moving far away, as she tended it with loving care,and not allowing too many other people near it, in case she lost some of the heat!
